This project, initiated via the Aboriginal History Archive, used extensive community engagement to re-gather the Aboriginal & non-Aboriginal students, parents, staff and community artists & musicians of Preston East Tech/Northland Secondary College who had built the culture of this remarkable school & successfully fought the Victorian government's 1992 decision to close it. We embraced Aboriginal ways of knowing, being and doing & developed multiple forms of storytelling, enabling us to revisit this epic story of struggle and reinstate & highlight the unique culture of the school. We created a Melbourne Museum exhibition, a YIRRAMBOI Festival stage-show, a vinyl record, a Digital Stories Series, lasting collaborations & follow-on research.
