Utilising Aboriginal Research Methodologies of oral history and yarning, the project identified the importance of Aboriginal Elders wisdom, knowledge, perspectives and experiences in supporting educational success for Aboriginal students. Elders connection to country and their work in Aboriginal communities identified them as role models for future generations of Aboriginal people further building the capacity of Aboriginal students to be successful leaders. Furthermore, the Elders oral histories identified strategies to close the gap in educational and socio-economic disadvantage for Aboriginal school students through enabling the development of culturally appropriate relationships between schools and the Aboriginal community.
