This project explored what constitutes research benefit from the perspective of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. The key achievements of the project include (a) the articulation of principles and definitions of what is research, its value and benefit to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people; (b) the development of a protocol for Indigenous engagement and research impact; and (c) the identification of innovative ideas to measure research impact and engagement in Indigenous research contexts. The project also contributed to enhanced leadership capacity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander research participants through knowledge exchange and translation; networking opportunities and peer support.
