Circulatory disease is the leading cause of death for Aboriginies (sic) as well as other Australians. Fetal, infant and maternal death rates for Aborigines remain higher than those of other Australians. but the greatest disparity between the mortality of the indigenous minority and others is found in early and middle adulthood.’ In Aboriginal adults, deaths from diseases of the circulation occur up to ten times more frequently than in the rest of the population.’ We report here on aspects of the leading cause of death in the most disadvantaged Australian subpopulation, in age groups where the disparities between Aborigines and non-Aborigines are greatest.
